2023 ELECTIONS: CLARION CALL ON NDIGBO TO VOTE by The International President, Christian Association of Igbo Ministers Worldwide
In
less than three weeks from today, Nigerians of voting age will go to
the polls to elect a new president and other political officeholders at
different levels.
As
a major ethnic group accounting for over one quarter of the country 's
population, the Igbos are major stakeholders in the Nigerian project.
I, therefore, call on all Igbo-speaking people all over the country to
awake to their civic responsibilities and participate fully in the
forthcoming voting exercise this month.
I
urge you everyone to strain every nerve to collect your PVCs and vote. Take some time off from your businesses
and other engagements to collect your PVCs and vote. The election period
is not a time to travel back home or stay in the house to watch
television. Come out and vote wherever you are. No sacrifice is too much
to make in order to participate in this forthcoming election.
For
many years, our people have been apathetic towards political
participation in the country. This has led to our not making the
required inputs into policy making and decisions that will shape the
future of the country. It has resulted in marginalization of our people
and the negation of our corporate interests in the scheme of things.
There
must be a paradigm shift in our attitude towards politics which is the
greatest avenue for national development. It is through active political
participation that personal and group interests are articulated,
projected, defended and realized. Decisions and policies which impinge
positively or negatively on individuals or groups are made through
politics. As a people, we must stand up to be counted in the affairs of
the country of which we constitute a strategic part.
I
appeal to parents, religious leaders, traditional rulers, community
leaders, President -Generals of town unions at home and outside the
homeland to do all in their powers to sensitize everyone within their
spheres of influence to actively participate in this all-important
national civic responsibility.
I
call on all ministers of the Gospel and christians generally, to pray
fervently for peaceful, free, transparent, and credible elections
throughout the country. Pray for divine intervention in all aspects of
our national life.
God bless Ndigbo!
God bless Alaigbo!!
God bless Nigeria!!!
Signed:
Apostle (Dr.) Solomon CHUKWUEMEKA Okorie
International President,
Christian Association of Igbo Ministers Worldwide
