Apex Igbo Social Cultural Organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo (Lagos Branch) has assured Igbo and their host communities of a complete “cultural evolution of the Igbo – promised to improve the prospects of Lagos Ndigbos as Nigeria’s pride in global socio-cultural and economic index and put them in their rightful position in the society.
The Chairman, Council of NDIEZE in Lagos Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Eze, Sir,
Chris Emeka Offia, made this assertion to ‘The Eastern Eye’ after their recent closed-door
meeting!
In attendance were Eze Dr Uche Dimba, Eze Christian Uche Nwachukwu, Eze
Dr Egbu Ato, High Chief Oliver Akubueze, Eze Gegbu Emeka Jumode, Eze Remy
Anyamele, Eze Dr Vincent Nwaobi, Eze Dr Maurice Eze, Eze Nnemeka Agbo, Eze Tony

In a short speech, the Chairman eulogized the hierarchy of the immediate
past council before reassuring the Excos, Stakeholders and leaders of thought of
the purpose-driven aspiration of the newly constituted council.
“It would be recalled that on the
17th of November 2020, the council was constituted to take the affairs of
Ndigbo Ndi-Eze Council of Lagos State. And today, we want to let the whole
world – especially Lagos State, where we have our community people – know that
a new body has been constituted. I am assuring everyone that we will definitely
deliver our goals for which this council was constituted for.”
He also promised that, “Our
leadership of this new council will bring about a cultural evolution to correct
the misgivings people have about the Igbo. I have hinged it that, our style of
leadership will bring about a paradigm shift in the drive towards cultural
evolution not only in Lagos but in Nigeria.”
On the ‘on and off’ rift among
the Ezes in their host communities, especially in Lagos State, the Chairman
retorted in confidence that it “was a
thing of the past and that every Eze has agreed to accommodate other Ezes to
work for the betterment of the Igbo.”
“Yes, there was a dispute that
lingered for so many years concerning the traditional rulers of Ndigbo about
who would be the number one among them for over 21 years but by God’s grace and
the wisdom of High Chief Solomon Aguene, we have been able to settle it amicably
and have become stronger. I am assuring the whole world that there will never
be a repeat of such a dispute again,” he added.
